Apparently letting your engine bounce around freely in the engine bay will cause the car to feel all wobbly and ... wrong. I actually hadn’t realized the mounts were torn when I went to install aftermarket ones, but the improvement has been dramatic.
In case you’re reading this far, this is my 2nd set of Vibra Technics mounts that I’ve installed (first on an Acura RSX, now on an S2000) and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Part of me wants to get another car specifically that has engine mounts made for it.
Also halfway through a stereo install, part of Project #MakeS2000GreatAgain.

Just had my shop put in new motor mounts and like you said the difference is noticeable. Wish there were decent poly mounts for my M3 but they all increase NVH extensively, luckily the trans mounts can be switched to poly without much increase so that's the plan.

E46? At the risk of sounding like a shill, I think Vibra Technics makes them for the M3 ... for me they’ve hit the sweet spot between engine movement control and NVH twice for two of my cars.

Videos of their “fast road” mounts in my RSX below (nothing exciting, just the lack of shaking/rattling and engine drone):

I'll have to look into them for the future, thanks for posting!
